Course Description

Join us for an enlightening program that aims to boost your expertise in assessing and treating depression in today's rapidly changing world. With new trends like social media and innovative treatment options, this training will transform your perspective on depression. We'll explore the complexities, comorbidities, causes, and treatments associated with modern depressive disorders, providing you with ready to use tools to make an immediate and real difference in your practice.

Depressive disorders may actually be a mixture of multiple disorders with individual underlying factors that benefit from different treatments.

Our discussion will cover how depression manifests across different age groups—teens, young adults, middle-aged adults, and older adults — highlighting unique symptoms and comorbidities. You will discover the roles of different types of depression, medication, and technology. Furthermore, you will learn practical strategies for addressing these factors. Dr. Fox will share actionable steps to help you mitigate these influences and manage depression effectively, focusing on goal setting, controllable factors, and positive outcomes.

You will learn a step-by-step, personalized approach when working with depressed clients, tailoring your strategies to meet their unique needs. Dr. Fox will also share specific therapeutic interventions to enhance your practice.

By completing this program, you will be better prepared to navigate the intricate world of modern depressive disorders, providing your clients with the most effective care possible.

Key Points:

  • Emerging Treatments: Explore cutting edge treatments for major depression, including medicinal marijuana, ketamine, psychedelic assisted therapy, and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). Learn how to support your clients through these innovative options.

  • Comorbidity with Other Disorders: Depression frequently coexists with other psychiatric conditions, including substance use disorders, anxiety, and personality disorders. This highlights the importance of comprehensive assessment and treatment approaches.

  • Impact of social media: The rise of social media has created new avenues for both exacerbating and alleviating depressive symptoms. Understanding the dual role of digital platforms is crucial for modern therapeutic practices.

  • Gender Dynamics: There have been notable shifts in the gender dynamics of depression, with varying prevalence and symptomatology between men and women. This necessitates gender-sensitive assessment and therapeutic interventions.
